Beginning May 1 through August 1, Chester County residents have the opportunity to appeal their real estate assessment. The taxes that home owners pay are based on this assessed value of the home. So if you feel your home was assessed at the time of high property values, now would be the time to appeal.
There is a charge of $25 for residential appeals and the process is relatively simple. The property owner can present information such as recent appraisals or recent sales documentation for sales of similar homes in their area. Have a real estate professional do a Comparative Market Analysis(CMA) or hire a certified appraiser to help you with this process of determining fair market value. If you live in Chester County and need a CMA, I am happy to help you with it, for no charge. It is highly recommended that you take a few recent pictures of the home to the hearing at the
Government services Center in West Chester, PA.
