Not sure if everyone understands that all REALTOR® are real estate agents but all real estate agents are not REALTOR®s.
Only real estate agents who belong to the National Association of Realtors as well as their State - in our case the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and the local association - in our area is called Suburban West Realtors Association (SWRA) can call themselves REALTOR®s. Apart from the license, Realtors subscribes to a strict Code of Ethics.
I remember as a new agent, attending a Code of Ethics class at SWRA and holding up my right hand - pledging loyalty to my client and promising to hold myself to the highest standards in the business and more. Also being a part of the Associations requires you to take continuing education credits which I believe is essential in any profession.
