Newsweek study lists local schools as the Best!

Newsweek's annual study of the Best High Schools in America - 2011 lists 4 schools in Chester County.  The rankings are as follows: Downingtown High School East, 279; Downingtown High School West, 339; Great Valley High School, 346; Rustin - West Chester High School, 481.

The magazine’s analysis of schools for this year was based upon six criteria, which carried different weight in the final calculation:
graduation rate (25 percent),
college matriculation rate (25 percent),
AP/IB/AICE tests taken per graduate (25 percent),
average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent),
average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and
AP/IB/AICE courses offered per graduate (5 percent).

“We are very proud of this achievement,” said Lawrence Mussoline, Downingtown Area School District’s superintendent. “Our administration and teachers are working hard to increase academic rigor throughout the district and this recognition validates our schools’ efforts to prepare our students for success in college and beyond.”
