Downingtown Area School District (DASD) bursting at the seams!

One indication of  how much this area is growing is the school enrollment statistics in the Downingtown Area School District.  All estimates anticipate enrollment growth throughout the district until at least 2016.  While some estimates see a potential enrollment of over 14,000 in our future (there are presently 11,917 students attending our schools), several others show the district experiencing growth in the next few years followed by a slight decline in enrollment.

Courtesy of the redistricting committee and more specifically, the consultants from McKissick and Associates who are hired by the Board to assist in the process - below the link below to see the power point presented at the recent meeting.

Power point regarding DASD redistricting

I had no idea how close to practical capacity our schools are!  The maps are fabulous and show the townships and where the students are coming from...very interesting and educating.

Does this affect your child?  Did you volunteer to be  apart of the redistricting committee?  Anything you wish to convey to the committee that will be working on the redistricting project?

    1. Hello Naresh

Thanks - I am happy to help. It appears that the original presentation has been removed - but there are several pdfs from McKissick Associates which may have the answers you are looking for. This link directs you to the DASD website.

You may find helpful information on my fb page as well - https://www.facebook.com/DowningtownRealEstate
where I had posted a link to a Business Journal article that ranked local schools.

  2. Hi. The latest presentation shows the same poor group of kids who were moved last time to accomodate the opening of Springton Manor being picked on again to be moved to D'town West. It's sad these kids keep getting ripped from thier friends when much closer neighborhoods of the same economic status could be chosen. DASD does not know what they are doing and McKissick is just as bad. I would advise against moving to Upper Uwchlan to avoid multiple redistricting cycles through out your childs education which cause serious emotional harm.
